Το ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον του – θα πρέπει να – είναι ο συγγραφέας του ο οποίος φαίνεται να προέρχεται από τους κληρικούς ή έστω από κάποιον που γνωρίζει, καλύτερα ημών και υμών, πρόσωπα και πράγματα εκ των έσω της Αρχιεπισκοπής... Διαβάστε το λοιπόν και ξαναβλέπουμε.:
Archbishop Sotirios’ nephew is not married and he’s already repeatedly
said he will make him a Bishop for Canada. Read that again.
Sotirios made his nephew Fr Evangelos a “celibate
priest” just like Sotirios was. So not a monk but not a married priest. It’s an
innovation from Archbishop Iakovos's days when anything went because the
Patriarch didn’t have enough power to stop him and that’s why we have so many
hierarchs across America who haven’t stepped foot in a monastery and think the
church is a business and that money and power is the goal.
When will Sotirios make his nephew a bishop? It’s hard to say since he’s only in his late 20s and bishops aren’t historically made younger than 35. Just like how priests aren’t supposed to be ordained until they’re 30 but when you’re desperate for priests they can use the economia card. (The canons of the church have minimum ages for ordinations.) With enough of OUR money to the Patriarchate, I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes a bishop before he’s 30.
As for him going to St John’s, nothing says suck it GCT than putting his own blood in one of their churches. The only hopeful thing is that Sotirios told clergy in Quebec that his nephew is coming at the end of May from Greece—so in a few weeks—and will be put at Holy Cross in Lavalle, the big church former bishop Bartholomew was at. But you also never know with Sotirios. He says a lot of things and then pulls a fast one. Like he did with Fr Theo and St John’s and then blindsided the GCT and President Skoutakis showed up to the Archdiocese to yell at Sotirios and then walked out. Nothing would anger the GCT more than Sotirios putting his family into the community he has spent his life trying to destroy.
As for Fr Evangelos being too inexperienced and young to be put at a large parish like St John’s or Holy Cross, you need not look further than St Nick’s church which has a priest who is now in his 3rd year of seminary. Or the church in Kingston who also has a priest who is still in seminary. While it’s crazy, and in America you can’t even become a head priest of a parish (proestamenos) without a Masters degree, it’s a free for all here. Sotirios behaves like a dictator and does whatever he wants whenever he wants.
Sotirios wasn’t even going to make his nephew a priest until next year but after the massive shit storms with Bishops Iakovos and Athenagoras who both complained to the Patriarch and shit talked Sotirios to Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon (the #2 at the Patriarchate), he knows his time as Archbishop is coming to an end whether he likes it or not after his jubilee in December. His nephew isn’t ready to be a priest and this was forced on him by his uncle Sotirios who desperately wants to find a way to control Canada after he’s removed. It’s all about power and money for this Archbishop. If you look at photos of his nephews ordination it looks like the kid shit his pants. But when you’re doing pretty much nothing in Greece and you’re promised to be made a Bishop, the power is appealing to many.
Just look how bat shit crazy Bishop Iakovos became for power that he blew up his own future in Canada. This is what happens when you’re not mentally or spiritually well. Those who want power are the least deserving of it.
For your information Sotirios csnt make him a bishop. The synod at the fanari does that. Also, by the time the kid turns 35, Sotirios will ge what, like 100? So that is not happening. The other thing is no priest wants to go to st johns because of the people there. And you community types seem to be full of yourselves. Can the HCT stand on its own without a church? Will people give money to the GCT? I dont think so and you know it too. You poor babies Sotirios wont let you make any money off the church which you have no say in canonically. You think the next guy will let you? Haha I dont think so. So do us a favor and stop complaining about things that are not for you to think about and apend your time and the greek peoples money that they give to the church to for example fix all the building issues at st johns like leaking roofs, rusted and broken doors, crumbling bricks, deteriorating asphalt etc etc.

Economies happen all the time. Fr Evangelos is only about 27 and was made a priest before the canon cut-off of 30 years old minimum. The Patriarch has $1.8 million reasons to make an economia. Do I want it to happen? Absolutely not. But much crazier things have happened at the Phanar.
As for the building of st john’s needing repair. That falls squarely on the GCT. Same goes for St Irene’s which is in worse condition. The GCT takes all the money in from the churches, including from the philanthropic arm Philoptochos-Pronia and then gives a fraction back. That's why nothing gets fixed because the GCT doesn't care about the churches, just the money they bring in for them. It's like Sotirios’ clone runs the GCT. People give money to the poor, not GCT headquarters, but it the poor. And they're only given back a fraction of the money raised to help the poor. If people wanted to give it to GCT HQ they would but they gave it to the poor. It's so unethical and then they complain about the Philoptochos under Sotirios. Both are run by people who just want money.

It’s not some sort of discussion at the synod, he puts forward the names and tells him that he wants them to be made X and they vote yes to not piss off the Patriarch. It never ends well if they vote against the Patriarchs wishes. Look what happened with the new Archbishop in Crete, but you probably have no idea.
And it wasn't the Patriarch’s idea to make 3 Bishops in Canada. Sotirios made the request and he didn't want to make Bartholomew or Iakovos bishops but he did it because Sotirios asked and expressed the need for them. Sotirios has a lot more power than I’d like to admit and that's because he gives the Fanar $900K a year lump sum and $900K for staffing and building maintenance of their building. Canada gives more money per church than any country in the world including America. America has over 500 churches and only now under Elpidophoros gives $2 million a year to the Fanar. Canada has 70 churches and gives $1.8 million a year. Do the math. If Sotirios wants to make his “celibate” nephew a Bishop, the one person in the world who can get it done is Sotirios. No other pedophile would have lasted this long in power except Sotirios. He's a lot of things but stupid isn't one of them. He wanted to get rid of bishop Iakovos and he did it by writing a single letter to him and sat back and watched Iakovos go into a death spiral and self-implode.

In conclusion I say one more time this private institution has lost its moral compass and is going down fast.One unfortunate point of clarification after the service on Good Friday at St Johns Archbishop Sotirios made it clear he is "going no where". For the sake of our church let us hope and pray that he is WRONG. These embarrassing childish games need to stop.

Except the decision is HAH, not Sotirios as to when he retires. And there's been so much chaos around Sotirios at the Phanar lately about his bishops or lack thereof that there's a push by even the most senior people like Met Emannual of Chalcedone to remove Sotirios, and they're both in the gay mafia so that's really saying something. But Bartholomew won't touch him until Sotirios gets his 50th jubilee in December.
DeleteThere used to be 3 bishops and in ten days there will only be 1 left in Canada. And the one left has already called Met Emmanuel to complain about Sotirios. Bishop Athengaoras who is the only one that will be left has been stripped of his regional vicar of Ontario and the west responsibilities and his role as the manager of the archdiocese has been revoked. There's a letter from Sotirios to him stating this. There's also minutes from the clergy meeting stating the regional vicar part. And now they don't talk, at all. So much so that last week Sotirios was trying to track Athenagoras down before he left for Greece and couldn't. They live in the same building! So his secretary tracked Athenagoras down telling him the Archbishop needs to see him before departing and he refused. It's only a matter of time before we will be left with zero bishops. While they are not impressive bishops, especially psychopath kleptomaniac Iakovos, it's quite telling when you’ve lost control of all 3 of them and are only left with 1 in title only.

When is the last time the Archdiocese council (which is only appointed by the Archbishop) made a resolution which was not dictated from the Archbishop? NEVER !!

You obviously dont know how the church works. Yes the bishop or metropolitan or archbishop is in charge and he decides for the whole church based on canon law and oikonomia. The church is not part of the GCT. You own 4 buildings but not the church. Read some books and stop embarrassing yourself.

Unless they’re retiring, changing professions, going to ROCOR, or came from Greece and are going back, I doubt we will see a few priests “resigning.” The quality of the priests in Canada is not something other countries are eager to take.
