This Press Release was issued today by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America regarding their financials,. Something Canada has NEVER EVER released even in just a high level 1-page. All financials in America can be found on their website too. While this degree of transparency is new to America ever since the Archbishop's changed, it is all there for anyone to access, no passwords required.
To put this in context, the Archdiocese of America has far more information on their own website than our own Archdiocesan Council of Canada has ever seen from Archbishop Sotirios behind closed doors! Now that’s saying something!! And should scare everyone!! In America the Chief of Staff under former Archbishop Demetrios is still in prison for theft over $1 million. He was using the archdiocese credit card to furnish his home as were other staff and clergy and bishops just not to that degree. Everyone was on the payroll and everyone was eating at the trough. There's this woman Elpidophoros brought in that's mentioned in the Press Release: Elaine Allen, she's everyone's worst nightmare and the best thing that's happened to that Archdiocese. You can't spend $25 if you work at that Archdiocese now without filling out a form for financial approval. While I think that's too extreme, I guess when the former Chief of Staff to Demetrios is sitting in jail, it's better to be safe while they still continue to purge old useless staff. While I think Elpidophoros's communications team is still weak and he needs to fix that pronto, I do admire his financial team. They also have a CFO who's a priest and he's hardcore too and a pain in the ass to many, LOLOLO!! Does Canada even have a CFO?
No one will ever see the financials in Canada online or at a clergy Synaxis or even at an Archdiocesan Council under Arch Sotirios. Period. You can’t even subscribe to get on just one email list on their junk website, and you think they’ll have the financials?? Not a chance.

Delete12:39: No the archons, bishops and priests absolutely do not have the financials of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. They have never been given to us at the Archdiocesan Council meetings. Not even the high level numbers have been disclosed. All that we know is how much they give to the Patriarchate $1.8M per year ($900K + another $900K to cover patriarchal staff and the Phanar building expenses) and that Archbishop Sotirios sold the Ontario camp and the Peterborough properties for only $3.1M for both. That’s all we were told at the last Archdiocesan meeting about the finances. And there was no presentation or handouts. It was just a verbal update for a few minutes. So no, no one has the financials, especially clergy. You have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re just making things up. And you’re either trying to protect Sotirios or you have no idea what’s going on our church. So stop spreading lies, you were not at the Archdiocesan Council meeting.

ReplyDeleteAlso, the hypocrisy in Canada by the fanatics is comical given Archbishop Sotirios permitted and blessed baptisms by all his priests across Canada of babies/children of same-sex couples. It’s been happening for a few years now. And there was even a Clergy Synaxis about it so Archbishop Sotirios could explain to his priest how to fill out the forms and baptismal certificates etc. I personally know a number of priests in Toronto alone who have done baptisms for babies of same-sex couples with Archbishop Sotirios blessing, including at St. Nick’s church. All the documents for each baptism are housed at the Archdiocese. Where’s the outrage? Where’s the fanatics? Where’s the dinky protest outside the Archdiocese with dollar store posters like they did over a piece of metal? Yawn.
In the stone ages. Children which were borne out of wedlock were called bastards ( sorry not politically correct). and were not permitted to be baptized. Absolutely no logical sense why they would not allow the sacrament of baptism. The and every church are made by the people, straight, gay etc. We need to grow up and be inclusive.

Good point Nikona. At least now children out of wedlock can be baptized in the church such as a single mother or a heterosexual couple not wed. That’s progress. In Canada we already baptize children from gay/lesbian couples. One of the very few things Sotirios has done which I agree with.
DeleteThe bible thumping know it alls are hiding because nobody will listen to them. Look at the female doctor who got her hands slapped for denying science at St George. Even she just like her mega athan fenatics got thrown out of church both in Toronto and Bolton.
