So lets see here, 1 you obviously don't know how the church runs. hint its not a business. 2 when you cant provide proof of your serious allegations, you use the there isn't enough proof line even though you haven't provided any to begin with. 3 this is 2022 and a serious allegation would get him removed period. with what the catholics have gone through i don't think sotiri can survive serious allegations.

7:14 PM actually, 1. you obviously don’t know how the church runs here. Hint it is a business, Arch Sotirios has publicly said in our churches for decades now that 1st he is a business man and 2nd he is a spiritual leader. That line of his is classic. As for your other comment, you also don’t seem to understand how difficult it is to convict someone especially a leader for abuse. And you don’t know how many cases have been settled out of court or how many NDAs have been signed.

And this isn’t just in the church. Abuse is one of the hardest to prove beyond a reasonable doubt and most often it’s a child saying what was done to him with no proof against a faith leader with the financial backing and resources of his church. The Catholic Church is massive, we’re not talking about a few hundred thousand faithful but over a BILLION so finding a group of children to do a class action suit is much different than 1 child coming forward at a time. That’s why when you read reports about the Catholic Church it’s a group of children reported. Plus our Patriarchate runs very differently than the Vatican. We don’t have an HR office in Instanbul or in Canada. The Vatican have offices just for offenses done by clergy where the victims are provided with support. The Catholic Church has a public policy that they must hand over everything and be cooperative with authorities. We do not, at any level have any of that. You are clearly not familiar with our judicial system and about cases of abuse, so saying it’s 2022 doesn’t actually hold any weight. Nor are you familiar with the lack of infrastructure in our church. The church, especially the patriarchate unfortunately doesn’t function how we would expect them to. It’s a war zone for power, and if you don’t believe me just go watch the St. Nektarios movie Man of God to get a glimpse of the severity of the Patriarchate in our church. And that’s based on historical documentation, not some random blog by some random person, but by St. Nektarios himself and those around him. Your perception of the church is not actually the sad reality of our church. There’s a few good hierarchs but for the most part they’re eaten alive before they can reach the top, just like St. Nektarios who should have become

  1. Agreed but the Catholic Church policy on sexual abuse changed mostly under Pope Francis so it hasn’t been like that for a very long time but at least it was done!! In America they put in place the only sex abuse policies I’ve seen in the church. They use to spend apparently tens of millions on NDAs and now they won’t spend a cent to protect clergy and I think the authorities are called in, can’t remember details it’s been a while since it was announced. That’s what we need here.

And yes St Nectarios should have become Patriarch. I’ve never seen an orthodox movie that has outed the state of our patriarchate & the hierarchs in charge there. It’s hard to watch but people need to know that slander is alive and well and some will do anything to touch the throne. To say that a bishop like st nectarios was sleeping with his nuns and impregnating them and burying the babies on the monastery property is crazy to even think and yet people believed it because a bunch of men wearing black with crosses said it.

  2. Employee benefit trust (EBT)
Any trust established to hold assets to provide benefits for the employees of a company or group of companies (and sometimes also former employees and employees' dependants). Very often, EBTs are set up to acquire and hold shares in the relevant company, to provide benefits to employees and former employees in the form of shares or options over, or interests in, shares. EBTs usually comply with certain statutory requirements. For more information, see Practice notes, Employee benefit trusts: overview, Setting up an employee benefit trust: overview and Trusts in commercial transactions: Employee benefit trusts.

    4. 6:55 the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada is an NPO and they have never disclosed the finances at a clergy-laity Congress to delegates like any other not-for-profit. People want to know where there money is going. It’s why I won’t give a cent.

  3. 6:55 you’ve obviously never seen an institutions financials. Contingency/emergency funds are disclosed line items in the budgets. Just look at when budgets are released by governments. So yes, yes people need to know since some people park no money which is dangerous and some park way too much money in those funds which can negatively impact capital budgets for critical initiatives. Do you just say anything to try to try to spin for Archbishop Sotirios? Are you on the Archdiocese payroll? Or did he just make you another Archon who no one knows what they actually do?

  4. What contingency fund? This is a trust for the sole benefit of Sotirios who claims he only had his government issued pension. The Archdiocease does not what that secret coming out hence why all the secrecy. Most likely the reason CRA is looking at it if 6:55’s sources are correct.

    1. 10:06 so you're saying the Archdiocese has a trust specifically for Archbishop Sotirios? And according to another post it's worth $3 million? I don't understand how their books are audited with such a trust, unless it's listed as something else? Maybe Nikonas who understands these sort of things professionally can she'd some light for us?

    2. When it was set up it was legal. Auditors may have chosen not to bother with it no w that it is illegal.

  5. Like pension funds just the annual contribution is disclosed. Note 10. The assets in this beast fmv $3-20 mil is the best kept secret from Bart. Stop looking at Nikonass for your answers look at some other Jamesass treasurer and some guardian angels for some answers.meanwhile all the churches are crumbling while the boss is lining his pockets.

  6. My research has found that many years ago early 80’s to early 90’sb Employee benefit trusts EBT’s were brilliantly used on the native reserves to park tax exposed government paid benefits in a tax free manner and again pull them out of for the beneficiary tax -free of the reserve. I’m fact many wealthy individuals created now illegal just like the EBT’s offshore typically Barbados insurance policies to hide money and assets. I can do it When CRA got wind of all these plans they changed legislation to make them taxable to the beneficiary when contributions were made just like pensions. Have a few of these plans slipped through the cracks? Absolutely no yes dressed up like a pension fund with no asset disclosure just contribution disclosure.
