The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada is not a private business??

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada is not a private business. It’s declared an NPO which means it has an obligation to disclose its financials to its members as a not-for-profit. What’s Archbishop Sotirios hiding that he won’t show the financial not even to his own “trusted” Archdiocesan Council? Despite what he might believe, Sotirios doesn’t own the church, it’s not his money, the people/members own the churches. Same reason why I don’t understand how he was able to unilaterally sell Archdiocese assets such as the 2 Ontario properties including Metamorphosis kids Camp secretly during the pandemic, even though the majority of the money for the camp came from Hellenic Heritage Foundation, and no they were not happy to hear through the gossip mill that Archbishop Sotirios sold the camp and did what exactly with their money? The money given from that organization was earmarked for the camp, not for him or his buddies at the Phanar (ecumenical patriarchate). If the Patriarch wants our money to support the patriarchate, he should start by cleaning out the sicko hierarchs in his Phanar and here in Canada, and if he needs help I will happily provide him with a comprehensive list of who and why. So yes, Archbishop Sotirios does have a responsibility to disclose the finances. This is not North Korea and he can stop acting like a dictator. And yet whoever is left in the churches after the mass exodus during the pandemic to the Russians still continue to give money to him, I have no idea why. When a child misbehaves you don’t give it cake, and that’s exactly what people in the church are doing, giving their money blindly to a church with no idea what exactly it does with it? Parish councils should do what Agia Triada did (which is a church owned by the Archdiocese too) just quit on masse and leave the keys at the Archdiocese for Sotirios. The reason Archbishop Sotirios is still Archbishop of Canada is because of the money people give the church and because he continues selling of the church assets quietly. Plain and simple. If there was no $1.8 million ever single year coming in, Patriarch Bartholomew would replace him. Yes, it’s that simple. And as for the blogger on this pages post, while it’s a huge sigh of relief to see that at least in America they now publicize their finances and that they’re putting in protocols for financially fix that place that almost went bankrupt under Archbishop Demetrios. It doesn’t negate the fact that Archbishop Elpidophoros’ biggest problem is communications. The fact that no one around him understood that he needed to issue a statement after the baptism but instead thought it was a good idea to instead have bleeding heart Democrat Fr. Chrysavggis write articles shows that they’re all stupider than the other. And the Archdiocese employee Fr. Chrysavggis most recent article yesterday against Mount Athos and monasticism is why Archbishop Elpidophoros will now more publicly see the monastery’s go against him just like the monasteries in Canada have gone against Sotirios along with the conservative branch of the church. Elpidophoros might want to find out from his hierarch buddies such as Metropolitan Kyrillos (better known as “Κύριλλος με τον κυριλάκκο του”) about what’s happening in Canada about the Greek Vicariate discussions the Russian church is having. The Russian church has not only welcomed the Greeks into their churches with open arms but they provide Greek services in their own churches with Greek speaking clergy and chanters. And while Sotirios was in Greece with his bishops the Russian church even flew in well known “Pappa Ephraim” (who used to be at St Anthony’s monastery in Arizona of the late Geronda Ephraim) to do mass confessions for Greeks in the Russian churches across Canada. Given how things are progressing, I’d say there will be an announcement by the Russians for a Greek Vicariate in Canada within the year. And given that the 2nd largest Ukrainian population in the world is Canada, nothing says a big FU to Patriarch Bartholomew like a Greek Vicariate in Canada

  1. Ask the Archdiocese nicely for the financials in writing. When they say no go straight to CRA charities branch and ask for the financials they filed with their charity return. They CRA are legally obligated to release even with redactions as previous authors have implied. Even the minister of finance cannot prevent their release no if ands or buts. If you happen to be accredited press you get them even quicker. Happy readings. Nikona Georgakopoulos CPA,CA,CFP,TEP

    1. 12:35 am. Interesting. Thanks Nikona. But first I need to ask the Archdiocese in writing. And what if they ignore the email which is their usual MO?

    2. 4:49 pm then go straight to CRA I personally would not waist my time writing anything to the Archdiocese.it appears from others that CRA has already released some financials.

    4. 12:38 pm looks like they have been released look at the August 12 post. And last but not least it is always my pleasure helping those that wish to investigate public institutions even when they call me a rufiano :) I really don't mind their ignorant comments nor am I scared of anybody but myself. I personally have been verbally and physically threatened by crazies whom I have had the pleasure of introducing to our local authorities. Then tous fovame katholou . My God which sees everything protects me. Even against strokes and other age related injuries.

  2. Now that is a smackdown! That’s a how to, on insulting everyone in the church in one paragraph. Whoever wrote that just give them a weekly English column on your blog Andipothas. I can’t stop laughing it’s so good.

And interesting that they’re talking about Metropolitan Kyrillos from Rhodes who’s bum buddies with Bishop Iakovos in Montreal. Kyrillos is backing Iakovos for Archbishop of Canada which is a joke—the gay mafia unites. As for Elpidophoros, he needs to find new friends if Kyrillos is one of them. Kyrillos is another Archbishop Sotirios when it comes to sexually abusing their clergy and verbally abusing the monastics at the monasteries too. Like I said—gay mafia.

  3. I’d still like to know why is there an icon of Archbizness Sotirios in the Archdiocese boardroom for everyone to see? He’s not holy and is still alive. Also has no one noticed that Christ is pointing left and Sotirios is turning the boat right. That explains the entire church in Canada right there.

  4. Thanks I found that article by John Chryssavgis about Mount Athos. WTF was that?! BTW he’s not actually a priest, he’s an old Archdeacon. Archbishop Elpidophoros used this lackey to declare war on Mount Athos, he’s dead man walking. I heard the Russians called that Abbott at the Ephraim monastery in Arizona to broach a North American Greek Vicariate with all the monasteries. Those Russians, they never miss a beat. If only Elpidophoros had half their brain.

    1. Yep, the monasteries are not happy anymore with Arch Elpidophoros about a number of issues. They don't want to deal with him (or the useless Metropolitans either) given the public attacks by his own staff--deacons + priests--towards monastics and monasteries. That article is such an amateur move. He obviously doesn't have strategists around him.

At a certain point Patriarch Bartholomew needs to wake up about what's been happening with the monasteries across north America.

Even Arch. Sotirios talked about the monasteries in North America at a recent clergy synaxis and said how he told the Patriarch that the monasteries might be quiet but they're powerful and once you've lost them there will be a schism in the church and it will be like a house of cards and the church will collapse in North America. So if the monasteries are talking with ROCOR it means a shit storm has begun brewing.

The stupid thing out of all of this is that Arch Elpi’s first year the monastics were legit happy with him and so relieved that Met. Emmanuel didn't become Arch. It sounds like his circle of advisors has changed the last 1.5 to 2 years to liberal lay people and decons/priests. He needs to change his advisors or resign for the sake of the church.

    2. 3:06 pm: I'm with you, total house of cards. I was told that for the monasteries in Canada that Fr Paisios from Arizona (Abbott of the geronta Erphaim headquarters monastery) told the nuns here if things get unbearable with Sotirios that they can pick up and leave the monasteries and go to ROCOR since the properties for the monasteries in Canada belong to the Archdiocese. In America they don't have to leave, the Archdiocese doesn't own any of the monastery properties so they can easily switch to ROCOR and the conservative faithful will just go with them. I'm no conservative but I even think Elpidophoros has gone too liberal for me. And what's up with that asshole article insulting the monks? If you can't make your point without insulting the other person you’ve lost the argument. Period.

  5. Yep, it’s like the first rule of fight club—don’t piss off the monasteries and that includes Mount Athos. The Ephraim monasteries left once to ROCOR under the late Geronta Ephraim, and Fr. Paisios is way more hardcore. Elpidophoros is now officially the dumbest hierarch and that’s saying something if you’ve ever met the hierarchs at the Phanar. I’d love to see Elpidophoros try to go to Mount Athos now.
