The only ones who have a brain. People will just watch the live stream in America instead. It's that simple. And Bish Athenagoras said the same thing at the Synaxis (yes, he voted against Sotirios!). There are shut ins, people who are sick, parents with sick kids, people who live hours away from a church in rural parts of the country, people who have to work in the morning and want to watch liturgy or even just the priests sermon later, people who are in hospitals, etc. And I know this because people have been calling the Archdiocess to complain about this stupid decision. Which is why Sotirios issued a letter today to clergy, parishes, etc. saying that he won't budge on this decision. In his letter he said 3 people voted against it, still a lie. How can none of those guys just tell the truth about something simple? And the only reason this was even discussed at the Synaxis is because nut bar Fr Fotios has lost many parishioners because he tells them off during liturgy from the altar doors. There were videos of this on the churches live stream but Sotirios made them take it down because it was circulating for being so crazy. And Fr Fotios is too dumb and arrogant to ask why no one wants to go to his church. So he told Sotirios it’s because of the livestream and that’s why they should end it. Well what happens now when people still don’t show up at his church? Who’s he going to blame next? People watch livestreams/videos from Greece, Mount Athos, etc. of liturgy. Would Sotirios and our dummy priests rather people watch Netflix instead if they can’t physically make it to church or have kids watch cartoons? Even Geronta Ephraim’s HQ monastery in Arizona, St Anthony’s not only has livestream but you can subscribe to get notifications for when it goes live. And that’s from the most conservative monastery in North America. So anyone who thinks this is a good idea are as dumb as Sotirios. Church needs to be accessible to everyone, everywhere. That’s how you spread the Gospel. Way to go dummies for making sure our church in Canada stays irrelevant and unknown. Rumour has it that there are priests, even some of the new ones who are figuring out their options about transferring to another country, retiring until the next Archbishop comes or just quitting. They’ve had it with Sotirios. We’ve all had it with Sotirios.
Yep, Fr. Fotios is the reason that cancelling livestream was brought forward to the clergy retreat. Even though Sotirios suspended him while in Quebec for saying a second time he would not go to St. Nicks church with Merkel and publicly told off Sotirios and now Sotirios has now befriended him with Merkel for 2 reasons:

2. If Fr. Evan leaves it’s only Fr. Fotios that Sotirios has left to put at st. nicks church and more importantly he won’t care about the illegal activity Merkel and her archon son are doing since he doesn’t have a moral compass and swears at his parishioners during liturgy. So Sotirios actually brought this up at the beginning of the retreat like it’s so important. Canada has the stupidest clergy.
Yes your right, peoples relationship with God and receiving him (communion), which requires one to actually being in attendance, depends totally on broadcasting on youtube. Right.

DeleteYou realize that people who are too sick to go to church can watch liturgy and have a priest go and commune them. You might not be in the hospital or sick at home, but others are. And others are taking care of those sick people. Some people have to work on a Sunday morning and might want to watch liturgy when they get home or listen to the sermon of the day. Some parents have sick kids and might want them to still watch church on Sunday morning to show church is important no matter where you are or how you’re feeling. Some people might want to watch the liturgy of a feast day which they can’t attend because they don’t live near that church where the hierarchs and priests are gathered. Yes obviously you need to have a priest commune you, but you realize there are also people that go to church that don’t commune every week based on the guidance from their spiritual fathers so should they just stay home then when they can’t?
And newsflash people can have a relationship with God every moment of every day and that doesn’t require us to be in church 24-hrs a day either.
And live-stream isn’t only for liturgy services, it’s for all services, so if you get home and can’t make it in time for vespers is it not better someone watch it on livestream than just doing nothing at all and turning on say a movie?
This black-and-white thinking is the same thinking that Sotirios has. And why he’s run the church into the ground. If live stream is good enough for monasteries then it’s good enough for churches.
Sotirios doesnt give a shit about anyone except those that help him financially or those that do his dirty work. And those priests that voted with him are either stupid, lazy, or both. Most priests in Canada suck like their “leader.” And that post from St. George’s social media is a blatant lie, it wasn't unanimous. Triandaphilos is a liar like his boss.

What people did before technology is be completely cut off from church if they couldn't attend, that wasn't a choice because there was no other option, now there is. And for someone who purports to be a big curvy goer, do you say “pussification” in church too? Before or after you commune, or both?
