You watch way too many movies and don’t know how anything works. To convict someone you need evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.
That doesn’t mean some evidence, it means beyond a reasonable doubt which is
hard in any abuse case. When people are being sexually harassed or abused by
Arch Sotirios or Bish Iakovos especially inside a church the victims don’t say
hold on while I go and ask my buddy to record this so I can give it to the
cops. Sotirios himself has bragged how people have tried to charge him with

happen, just means there wasn’t enough evidence. And no priest who’s been
sexually abused by an Archbishop is going to go public, think what that will do
to him and his family? It will be international media on the cover of every
Greek tabloid paper. How do you go on after that and still be a priest? If you
want to find the most judgmental humans in the church, walk into a Greek
Orthodox Church. No priest or family will survive that. That’s why priests are
just getting up and leaving instead to protect themselves and their families
even without their apolyterio which is unheard of. Have you ever heard of an
institution or corporation that didn’t have a Human Resouces department?
Where’s ours in Canada? Sotirios is the HR department. That’s not a conflict at
all, right?! So yes, Sotirios is a sex abuser and a pedo. It’s the worst kept
secret in the church. And if you don’t know this, you’re either part of his
cesspool and trying to protect him, or you’re not close enough in the church to
know what’s been going on from even before Archbishop Iakovos of N/S America
made Sotirios a Met. for Canada with the Patriarch. Oh and even if you have
some evidence, doesn’t mean the Patriarch or the Patriarchate will do anything
about it. They don’t have an HR department either. How convenient!
Where there is smoke there is usually fire. Stuff like this catches up to predators like him.

ReplyDeleteI dont know about anyone else but if i was sexually abused or assaulted by anyone let alone a bishop or priest, they would get the Compton slap at a minimum. and if i had a kid and a priest or bishop sexually abused or assaulted them? cops and lawsuits to follow. and i don't give a shit what the fucken greeks would say. i mean think about it. son i didn't protect you because these greeks would gossip and talk and put it in the newspaper. good! but that priest or bishop would be in jail or gone or both.
ReplyDeleteDidnt this happen already? A priest who is now deceased was charged with sexual assault? And in the end everybody jumped all over sotiri for doing the right thing and suspending him? And the priest was found guilty but served no time because he had aids? And if im not mistaken there was a settlement paid to the victim after years of litigation a few years ago.

6:42 does anyone happen to know which deceased priest? Also, why would people be happy that the priest was only suspended? I would think being defrocked would be the reasonable response and possibly excommunicated from the church. Suspended to me sounds like he remained a priest without privileges. In any other institution/corp one would be fired with cause. Leniency in the church towards clergy is what perpetuates this sort of dangerous behaviour.
DeleteThe scandal, the harm has already happened whether people know about it yet or not, might as well just deal with it properly. It's like when priests here commit adultery and the response inside the church is for the priest not to tell his spouse so it doesn't create a scandal in the church. Except the damage is already done and so the secrecy actually makes it much worse and the priest and those who covered up for him live in a perpetual lie so constant sinning. Backwards thinking for a church. These are the same people that purport to be our “spiritual” leaders.
So lets see here, 1 you obviously don't know how the church runs. hint its not a business. 2 when you cant provide proof of your serious allegations, you use the there isn't enough proof line even though you haven't provided any to begin with. 3 this is 2022 and a serious allegation would get him removed period. with what the catholics have gone through i don't think sotiri can survive serious allegations.
