Most importantly is that this story was released just 1 week before Archbishop Elpidophoros of America’s Clergy-Laity Congress in San Diego, California starting next weekend. (It happens once every 2 years). So some of the Metropolitans, some clergy, some lay people, some from Hellenic College Holy Cross seminarian, some Philoptochos, some of the youth and some monks/nuns will be there.
And guess what everyone will be talking about? If the Patriarch will reassign, remove, or ask Elpi to step down.
What most people don’t know yet is that the Government of Greece gives the most money annually to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Instanbul, Turkey (Constantinople).
More money than the Greek Orthodox dioceses’ of Canada, America, UK, Australia COMBINED.
PM Mitsotakis and his government gives what would be in CND dollars about $15,000,000. Yes, $15 MILLION A YEAR.
The smart thing that Greeces’ Finance Minister does it that it breaks up the money in small lumps over the 12-month period. Which means the Patriarchate has only received half the money so far for the year.
Pat. Bartholomew isn’t going to remove AB Elpidophoros right now during his Clergy Laity Congress and he can’t remove him by the beginning of September either because this year also happens to be the Patriarch’s global Synaxis where all the hiearchs come. And if he removes Elpidophoros before that, it’s going to be the only thing the hiearchs are going to be talking about and most of the hiearchs globally either don’t like Elpidophoros, most of his old friends have turned on him or have taken a step back from him. So other than Patriarch Bartholomew who are his allies?
So what does the Patriarch do for the next 3 months and indefinitely? Looks like the useless staff at the Patriarchate won’t be getting paid any time soon. Maybe the Patriarchate can sell the yacht they have instead.
What else isn’t public yet is that the Turkish government has stopped giving VISAs to a bunch of employees of the Patriarchate. So they can’t get back into Turkey and are stuck wherever they are, like in Greece.

At least you’re being honest that you’re taking money from Elpidophoros for you vetting what you post. And no I don’t want Elpidophoros’ money that he quietly takes from the Archdiocese. Do you know he gets paid all in over $350,000 USD which in Canadian dollars is about $500K per year—half a million dollars and with a million dollar budget just for his office. And a million dollars for his communications staff. And he’s asking for more money so he’s increasing the parishes years dues by 9% I’ve the next two years.
If Sotirios did that you would have written about it already and called him all sorts of names.
It’s very scary for the church when pedo-Sotirios looks like the better option between the two. Very scary.
The Patriarch is to blame for both of them.
He knows Sotirios is a pedo and him and those around him openly say it. Then he has Prime minister Mitsotakis who has pulled his $15 million (Canadian dollars) from the patriarchate because of Elpidophoros’ causing a division across America, and possibly a schism soon enough.
